PLEASE - DON'T LEAVE A DOG IN A CAR THIS TIME OF YEAR

Even if you leave the windows down a couple of inches, the interior temperature of your car or truck can reach over 100 degrees in less then 5 minutes.  What a terrible death, cooked alive in a vehicle.  If you see others doing it - stop them or call the police.

Tips and Helpful Hints

Round holes to let your dogs stick their heads out of the box can be a real problem to your tracking collars.  Telemetry or Garmin GPS the antennas take a beating.  If you zip tie your antenna to the collar you can expect the antenna to snap at that point.  We send a rubber sleeve to slide over your antenna to keep it next to your collar and still have enough give to avoid snapping off the antenna as your dog sticks their head out of the holes.  We charge $15.00 to replace your telemetry antennas and have tough skin GPS antennas for $12.95, you can easily replace yourself.

We have the most amazing customers

A shout out to Crista B. from Oregon.  We met her at a water event in Matlock WA.  She became a new customer at the event by putting a Garmin TT-10 on layaway with us.  She paid some down and before long she paid it off and we shipped it to her.  Reading out Facebook today we see a nice comment she made about coming to us because we are good people.  Hownice to have a customer post that.  Thanks so much, the hound community is a very tight knit bunch and we are proud to be part of.

Gary's Hunting Stories

My First Christmas Tree

Over 30 years ago when Gary and I were just dating he introducted me to hunting with hounds.  I grew up in Montana and have been in the woods my whole life so going out in the middle of the night, seemed a little intriguing.  We were hunting the mud flats and the dogs took off up the bank.  With flash lights in hand we scrambled up the bank and they were treed just a few feet into the woods.  As we shined our lights up the tree it looked like a Christmas tree full of yellow lights.  I was so surprised I said, "Oh my we have a Christmas Tree."  To the more savvy it is called a den tree, but to me it was a real surprise.

Chessie's Mischievous Antics

Let us introduce you to our Chesapeake Bay Retriever - her name is Chessie, she is three years old.  We got her at 3 months old and she is a member of our family.  As all breeds and each dog have their individual traits we are still even now finding out how normal all her antics are, the breed is known as the Brown Clowns, she is one.  If she meets us with a toy in her mouth, chances are she has done something she knows is wrong.  A friend of ours compared us to the "19 and counting", as we have such an assortment.  Now we have chickens too.

Tips and Helpful Hints

Tracking Collar magnets to shut the collars off are always an item being lost.  Too many hunters take them out of the collars as the dogs are on the tail gate and chuck them on the inside of the truck bed.  BAD idea, because any impact can internally fracture the magnet and it will loss it's magnetism.  Not the entire magnet, just the spot that was fractured.  Always check to see that your magnets are in good working condition.  They will effect the life of your battery.  Where do you keep them?  A plastic cup holder in the cab of your truck would be our suggestion.

We have the most amazing customers

A big thank you out to Jay B in Utah.  He made a purchase on our new webpage and called us to tell us, he could have bought the item from anyone but we have always taken good care of him.  We guess our niche is a personal customer service you can count on.  Also to all the people who have taken the time to comment on our blog -- sorry if you find a misspelled word or two, and for the questions about where do I get my stories, well 35 years of being married to a hound hunter has provided me with a lot of stories to share.

Tips and Helpful Hints

We just sold some replacement dayglo collars to a guy who wanted to get rid of the Garmin black nylon as it had begun to look bad.  The nice thing about the dayglo is you can wipe them off and not have the smell.  However, the tip is "when you replace the DC 30 collar be very careful of the wire that leads from the battery compartment to the antenna pod.  When we sell the replacement collar we always tell our customers, you need the kevlar-like sleeve to cover and protect that wire.  A two dollar sleeve to protect a $100+ collar.  You decide.

Gary's Hunting Stories

When Gary was rabbit hunting over at Fort Lewis Washington he met up with Willie from North Carolina who had a basset hound.  For two years Gary was sure the dog's name was Fraya.  One day they were hunting together and Gary ask him where Fraya was.  Willie looked at Gary and said, "Who's Fraya?", Gary said you know your basset hound.  Willie looked at him and said, "His name is Fred."  Gary never was very good with accents.

Tips and Helpful Hints

If you are stuck for a dog house and live on a limited budget.  Get a plastic fifty five gallon barrel.  Cut out one half of one end.  Leaving the half cut will keep the chips in and the dog can jump in and out.  Place it on a wooded pallet to get it off the ground and place blocks to keep it from rolling.  Then if you want a place off the ground to feed your hound, make a top with two curved ends put a piece of plywood on top.  You will have a place to feed and can also watch to see if anything is going on with your hound's health.

Gary's Hunting Stories

He really wanted it to be a two bobcat day.  Gary and Larry headed down to Oregon and Gary had dreamed he had treed two bobcat the night before so he was sure it would happen.  First track seemed to be a good one and his young Abby pup was hot on it, then she treed.  Gary headed for the tree with the video camera and panned the tree to the top where he said - he thought he saw a raccoon.  He swattered her off the tree and let her know she shouldn't mess with that.  A little later in the day they got another cat jumped and treed that cat.  He came home for the night and was bummed about the coon in the first tree but when we put the video on the TV, there it was - a very nice cat.  So his pup had gotten him a two cat day.

Our amazing customers

We are pleased to acknowledge James D in Virginia.  He was the first to purchase 5 Tag-A-Longs off of our new webpage.  We are getting to know things day by day about the e-commerce side of our business.  No small feat for us old hound hunters.  We can build and diagnose tracking collars and problems surrounding them but the technology about our webpage is a real learning curve for us.  If you have problems with our site please call us so we can improve your shopping experience.  Doesn't that just sound like a sales pitch?  We really do have the most amazing customers.
